BRI bringing tangible benefits to participating countries: white paper

The Belt and Road Initiative has played a pivotal role in driving development and improving lives across participating countries, according to a white paper released by China's State Council Information Office on Tuesday.

The white paper, titled "The Belt and Road Initiative: A Key Pillar of the Global Community of Shared Future”, highlights that BRI cooperation has delivered real gains to participating countries, and paved a new way to advance modernization in all countries.

The BRI focuses on improving development by addressing major developmental obstacles through the construction of extensive infrastructure projects, said the white paper. By enhancing connectivity through infrastructure improvements, the BRI has substantially reduced trade costs for these nations, thereby increasing their access to the global economy and invigorating their developmental potential.

The BRI has been instrumental in industrial capacity cooperation. It has facilitated the creation of competitive industrial systems and expanded participation in global division of labor, creating opportunities for development, according to the white paper.

In terms of poverty alleviation, the white paper points out that the BRI has helped tackle food-related challenges by bolstering trade and developing modern agriculture, illustrating China’s active engagement in global food and agriculture governance.

Under the BRI framework, Chinese firms have worked hard through various projects to enhance the daily lives of local residents, fostering a sense of gain, fulfillment, and security among the people of participating countries, the white paper said.

The Belt and Road Initiative has been a dynamic and transformative force, redefining the developmental trajectory of participating countries over the last decade. The BRI's remarkable journey has not only uplifted lives but also sowed the seeds of hope, progress, and prosperity for a brighter future.
