BRI Ultimate Goal: Build a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind

With the highest goal of building a community of shared future, the “Belt and Road” initiative (BRI) has set up a practical platform and blazed a path for achieving this goal, which represents a beautiful vision and an important public product for improving global governance. The BRI transcends different regions, civilizations, stages of development, ideological differences, and social systems, and promotes opportunities sharing, common development and common prosperity among all countries, so as to build a community of interests, responsibility and destiny with mutual political trust, economic integration and cultural tolerance. It has become a vivid practice of building the global community of shared future.

As an initiative for development, cooperation and openness, the goal of the BRI is to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, common development and prosperity, and to build a global community of shared future. The BRI is not only for the development of China, but also for the world. The initiative is well aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in terms of concepts, targets and goals. It is not only a major initiative for China’s opening up at a higher level aimed at higher-quality development, but also one that delivers opportunities to the rest of the world. It’s not only a Chinese proposal for solving global problems and promoting the modernization of all countries together, but also a more dynamic, inclusive and sustainable plan for equitable development of all countries.

The BRI is an antithesis of the law of the jungle and the hegemonic mindset, and rejects the zero-sum game concept. It transcends national boundaries, ideological differences, differences in development stages and social systems, and goes beyond geopolitical interests. It promotes win-win opening-up and cooperation, shared responsibility, and joint governance, and strives to foster a peaceful, stable environment that is conducive to development.

Over the past 10 years, the BRI has focused on the fundamental issue of development, addressed the weak links and bottlenecks that constrain development, created a new engine for economic development and a new environment and space for national development, enhanced the capacity and confidence of national development, and improved people’s well-being. It strives to build a paradigm featuring benefits for all, balance, coordination, inclusiveness, win-win cooperation and common prosperity, enhance the driving force for global development, add vitality to economic globalization, and address development imbalance and promote the modernization of all countries.

The BRI has shaped people’s new understanding and imagination of the world, created a new concept and paradigm for international exchanges, made the global governance system more just and reasonable, and is leading humanity to a better future.
