Vast and holy, peaceful and alert. These are the characteristics of the mysterious Namse where people and nature live in harmony.This is the core protected area of Lancang River Source Park Of the Three-River-Source National Park, also known as the Home of Snow Leopards. In his fifties, Yeshe Tasheng used to make a living on grazing, as well as collecting and selling caterpillar fungus, just like his father and grandfather. In 2018 Valley of the Cats, a nature experience project in Namse, opened to the public. Yeshe Tasheng enrolled in the program and became one of the over 20 local families receiving tourists. Nature-loving people from all over the world now have a chance to make reservation and get an official permit. To stay at a local host home, following the lead of a local herder guide, finding such rare wildlife as snow leopards, observing natural landscape and cultural practices, experiencing pastoral life. Every time leading a group exploring the mountains, he always reminds them of all the policies and precautions at the National Park. He hopes that everyone visiting the place will have the chance to feel the magic power of nature and to cleanse their souls, to feel the inter-dependence between people and nature.
