The man in the photo is the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda. He visited China on November 26, 2015 and climbed the Badaling Great Wall in Beijing, China.

It happened to be the first snow of the season in Beijing, and the Great Wall presented a majestic scene of “mountains dancing to compete with the sky in height”, while it stood still and towering, and stretched out long and magnificent.

Duda was greatly awed by this scene. Crossing through the watchtower, he took off his gloves in spite of the cold and took out his cell phone to take a selfie with the snowy scenery of the Great Wall to record this wonderful moment, and also to record his mood and love for the Great Wall in the photo.

The staff of the Great Wall recalled that most of the heads of states who had previously climbed the Great Wall simply asked others to take their photo, and so far, the only one who couldn’t help but take a selfie was President Duda.

The ancient Silk Road brought Chinese culture to Europe, the “China Avenue” located in the Lazienki Park of the Polish capital of Warsaw has witnessed friendly contacts between China and Poland for more than three hundred years.

In 2011, with the joint efforts of both sides, the old “China Avenue” was restored, recreating the beautiful appearance of the park with traditional Chinese hexagonal pavilions and stone bridges.

Since 2012, the Chinese Lantern Festival and other activities have been held there in summer, once again writing a good story of cultural exchanges between China and Poland.

In February 2022, President Duda attended the opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 as scheduled, where he was overwhelmed by the ancient but modern international metropolis of Beijing, and its new, shining business card as the only “two-times Olympic city” in the world. On many different occasions, Duda has emphasized Poland’s willingness to become China’s gateway to Europe.

The Great Wall of China, a masterpiece of mankind and a monument of history, has become a link and a bridge between China and Poland. It is writing more beautiful stories and giving new life to China-Poland friendship.
