Brushed by cold air sweeping down from the north, bald cypresses have recently turned red throughout parks in Xiamen, Fujian province.
The changing colors attract many residents and tourists to the various parks in the city. The New Year's holidays are the best period for viewing the colorful transition.
The tall and upright tree gets its name for its feathery foliage and usually thrives near water in Xiamen. The trees turn from green to yellow and then red, and finally take on a bronze color.
