“Global Civilization Initiative and Mutual Learning among Civilizations” Paper Solicitation launched

KASHI - The launching ceremony of the “Global Civilization Initiative and Mutual Learning among Civilizations” Paper Solicitation was held in Kashi Prefecture, northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on January 25.

Hosted by Chinese Academy of Cyberspace Studies and Guangming Daily, the paper solicitation is open to experts, scholars, and individuals from various sectors worldwide, as well as works in multiple languages, aiming to celebrate the common values of humanity, strengthen global humanistic exchanges and cooperation, and promote harmonious coexistence of different civilizations.

Chen Xueliang, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Party Committee, stated in his address at the launching ceremony that, Kashi has been a historical hub on the ancient Silk Road, and this event, themed "Global Civilization Initiative and Mutual Learning among Civilizations," holds significant contemporary relevance.

Xia Xueping, Director and Party Secretary of the Chinese Academy of Cyberspace Studies, said, "We sincerely hope that through this paper solicitation, we can build a platform to attract more insightful individuals from both domestic and international arenas to use scientific and rational voices to interpret the Global Civilization Initiative.” He emphasized the need to construct China’s international discourse system and tell well the stories of the Belt and Road Initiative, and to comprehensively showcase the diverse cultural values of different nations in harmonious exchange.

Guo Lin, editorial board member of Guangming Daily, emphasized the newspaper's commitment to promoting cultural exchange. He said, "Guangming Daily places great importance on promoting cultural exchanges. We strive to be chroniclers of cultural exchange and advocates for mutual learning, building bridges for communication between nations." Guo expressed the hope that the paper solicitation would gather wisdom from around the world and that participants from various countries would share their observations, reflections, and insights regarding cultural exchange.

The launching ceremony illuminated corresponding topics through keynote speeches delivered by guest speakers. Tunç Akkoç, editor-in-chief of Turkish media outlet Harici, underscored China's advocacy for shared prosperity and emphasized the profound global significance of the Global Civilization Initiative. He highlighted GCI's role in establishing a new paradigm for healthy, fair, and rational international relations, where multilateralism prevails over unilateralism, win-win development supersedes zero-sum thinking, and harmony among civilizations replaces conflicts. Akkoç stated, "Embracing tolerance, coexistence, and mutual understanding among civilizations can propel the global modernization process and ensure the diversified development and sustainable prosperity of world civilization.”

Zhu Honghai, first-class inspector of the Department of General Affairs of China International Development Cooperation Agency, stressed that the basis for exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations lies in respect for the diversity of civilizations, which he elaborate as mutual understanding, tolerance, and adaptation. “Without mutual understanding, mutual tolerance, and mutual adaptation between countries, it is impossible to establish, develop, and maintain a healthy, stable relationship,” Zhu said.
