YAOUNDE, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) said on Wednesday that it has terminated its contract with the national football team coach Rigobert Song.
In a statement, FECAFOOT secretary general Blaise Djounang thanked Song and his assistants for their dedication to the service of the nation, without giving any reason for ending their contracts.
"In the next few days, the details of the recruitment process for a new Indomitable Lions coaching staff will be announced," Djounang said.
The former Cameroonian football star and captain, who had been in charge of the national team since 2022, helped the team qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar shortly after his appointment.
However, his two-year mandate has been less impressive, winning just six games out of 23, according to local football analysts.
