VIENTIANE, March 21 (Xinhua) -- The Lao government is cooperating with other Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states to improve the tax collection system to ensure better integration and to reduce the tax burden.
Representatives from the member states of ASEAN gathered in Lao capital Vientiane to attend the 18th meeting of the Working Group on ASEAN Forum on Taxation and the 15th meeting of the ASEAN Sub-Forum on Excise Taxation, which are taking place from March 20 to March 22, Lao national TV reported on Thursday.
Participants will discuss the completion of a double taxation agreement among ASEAN member states as part of the ongoing bilateral tax treaty network, and an action plan for withholding tax best practices, including moving to tax administration of the future through digital transformation.
The participants will also discuss the application of digital solutions to administering excise taxes. ■
