RCEP will continue to benefit not only the member countries, but also the rest of the world, said Wong Kan Seng, former deputy prime minister of Singapore, during an interview with Guangming Online at the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2024.
During a session themed “Confronting Fragmentation in Global Trade”, Wong joined other speakers to discuss how countries should strengthen cooperation and promote inclusive economic globalization. In the interview, he talked about the role of RCEP in promoting intra-regional trade and economic growth.
While each member may have a different starting point and ambitions, it serves the same purpose of promoting open, free trade, Wong said. With its high standards and inclusiveness, RCEP is expected to further facilitate trade growth and bring shared benefits worldwide, he noted.
