A Picture of Symbiosis

Beijing is one of the most bio-diverse metropolises in the world. According to a survey, there were 100 more bird species in Beijing in 2023 than ten years ago and a total of 6,408 species in the city. The report to the 20th National Congress of the CPC points out that "we must uphold and act on the principle that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, and we must remember to maintain harmony between humanity and nature when planning our development."

Iris flies, the fish leap, and the green fields are vast. The construction of ecological conservation spots showcases Beijing’s efforts in restoring the ecosystem and protecting biodiversity. Beijing has taken solid steps to advance the Chinese modernization that features man-nature symbiosis.

The ecosystem is an organic whole. Protecting the ecosystem requires more than a simplistic, palliative approach. Rather, we need to implement integrated conservation and systemic governance in a scientific and protective manner to improve the diversity, stability and sustainability of the ecosystem.

In the new era, green has become the underlying color of high-quality development. These green “lifelines”are the witness to man-nature harmony in China, epitomizing the eco-environmental conservation with Chinese characteristics. If we humans do not fail nature, nature will not fail us.

Embarking on a new journey, Beijing as the capital must advance the eco-environmental conservation by vigorously implementing the “Green Beijing” strategy, by cutting carbon emission, controlling pollution, and expanding green areas, and empower high-quality growth with high-quality eco-protection so as to accelerate the modernization that features man-nature symbiosis.
