SKOPJE, May 8 (Xinhua) -- North Macedonia's major opposition party VMRO-DPMNE won both parliamentary and presidential elections on Wednesday, according to preliminary turnouts.
Dimitar Kovacevski, leader of the ruling Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM), has conceded defeat in both elections.
Negotiation between VMRO-DPMNE and VLEN coalition, a major Albanian opposition parties bloc, on forming a government is expected to start Thursday.
VMRO-DPMNE also won victory in paralleling presidential elections. Gordana Siljanovksa Davkova, a retired law professor and former parliament member, beat her rival, incumbent President and candidate for SDSM Stevo Pendarovski by a large margin.
