YINCHUAN, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Approximately 40 journalists and self-media professionals from the mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong on Thursday began a weeklong joint news reporting initiative in Yinchuan, northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
The media team includes journalists from Taiwan's China Times, United Daily News and TVBS, a journalist from the China Review News Agency, young self-media professionals from Taiwan, as well as journalists from Xinhua News Agency, the People's Daily and China Media Group.
During the initiative, the team is expected to explore various locations, including an energy and chemical base, a museum, a cultural village, a national nature reserve and an economic and technological development zone. It will also meet with Taiwan youngsters and Taiwan-funded enterprises operating in Ningxia.
Wu Xi, deputy head of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, has encouraged media professionals from the mainland and Taiwan to help enhance cross-Strait communication, disseminate truthful information, safeguard peace and contribute to national rejuvenation.
The initiative was organized by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and the All-China Journalists Association, and will continue until July 31. ■
