Do you know how long the entire stretch of the Badaling Great Wall is? Currently, less than one-fifth of it is open to the public. After 40 years of restoration work, 90% of the Badaling Great Wall has been restored, and it is expected to be fully accessible by 2025. Once completed, visitors will be able to hike from beacon tower No.1 to Shixia Village, experiencing nearly 23 kilometers of the Great Wall's majestic scenery.

In this episode, we follow the footsteps of Melissa, a Russian international student, as she explores the newly restored western section of the Badaling Great Wall. There, she engages in an in-depth discussion with Yu Haikuan, head of the Cultural Relics Management Office of the Yanqing District Cultural Relics Bureau in Beijing, about the restoration process and its historical significance. Melissa shares that this visit not only allowed her to once again appreciate the grandeur of the Great Wall but also gave her a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in preserving China's cultural heritage. She hopes that more international friends will visit the Great Wall to personally experience its beauty.
