China calls for steady and sustained development of greater BRICS cooperation

China is eager to work with member states to ensure the steady advancement of "Greater BRICS Cooperation," heralding a new era for the Global South to seek strength through solidarity and jointly promote world peace and development, said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian on a Regular Press Conference on October 21, 2024.

He noted that this summit, the first after BRICS expansion, has drawn significant international attention. Lin emphasized that since its founding, BRICS has adhered to the spirit of openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation.

During the summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping will engage with other leaders on the international landscape, the BRICS practical cooperation, the development of the BRICS mechanism and important issues of mutual interest, he said.
