BEIJING, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Robert Fico, prime minister of the Slovak Republic, will pay an official visit to China from Oct. 31 to Nov. 5 at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
Fico was born in 1964 in Topolcany, Slovakia. He graduated from Comenius University Bratislava with a Juris Doctor degree.
Fico was elected a member of parliament in 1992. In 1999, he founded the Direction-Social Democracy party and took on the role of chairman.
He served as Slovak prime minister from 2006 to 2010 and from 2012 to 2018.
He was appointed again as Slovakia's prime minister in October 2023.
His wife is Svelana Ficova. ■
