Nduka Anthony Umekwe, an official from Nigeria's Ministry of Information and National Orientation, highlighted the transformative lessons Nigeria and other countries can learn from China's poverty reduction efforts during the Seminar on Poverty Reduction and Development under the Global Development Initiative held by the IPRCC in east China’s Guangdong Province.
Reflecting on the experience, Mr. Umekwe praised China's successful strategies in lifting its citizens out of poverty, emphasizing the importance of adopting similar models in other parts of the world. "This seminar has been an awesome one, learning how China has been able to bring their people out of poverty," he remarked.
The Nigerian official pointed to key aspects of China's development model, including infrastructure growth, technological advancements, and human capacity development, which have significantly improved the quality of life for Chinese citizens. "We saw the life of the citizens and how it's been improved," he said, referencing his visit to east China’s Guangdong Province during the seminar.
Mr. Umekwe also stressed the global applicability of China's approach, particularly in infrastructure and job creation. "If the world adopts that practice, people will be well engaged, and people will be very happy," he suggested.
He concluded by recommending that all nations take inspiration from China's model, especially in construction and job creation, to ensure sustainable development and improved livelihoods for their populations.
