The 2024 International Seminar on Global Poverty Reduction Partnerships, held as a parallel forum to the 2024 Global Poverty Reduction and Development Forum, took place in Beijing, China's capital city, October 31, 2024. During the event, the list of awardees for the Fifth Global Solicitation on Best Poverty Reduction Practices Campaign was unveiled, featuring 105 exemplary cases.

Launched in November 2023, the Fifth Global Solicitation on Best Poverty Reduction Practices Campaign was a collaborative initiative spearheaded by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), the China Internet Information Center (CIIC), the World Bank (WB), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The campaign attracted 1,012 entries from 37 countries and regions, including Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Jordan, Spain, Germany, Greece, Ethiopia, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Burundi, Tonga, Fiji, and China.

From these submissions, the seven organizing institutions carefully selected 105 best practices that are deemed sustainable, operable, replicable, and grounded in practical, real-world scenarios. These practices are recognized for their potential to offer valuable insights and actionable strategies for global poverty reduction efforts.

The primary objective of the Global Solicitation on Best Poverty Reduction Practices Campaign is to encourage individuals and organizations committed to poverty reduction to share their successful case studies. These case studies serve as a platform to highlight and disseminate effective poverty alleviation models from various countries. As part of the campaign’s ongoing initiatives, the organizers plan to publish a collection of these cases, create visual content and videos, and recommend select practices for inclusion in the United Nations’ South-South Cooperation case selection process.

Since its inception in 2018, the campaign has garnered strong support and active participation from institutions and individuals around the globe. Over the course of five events, the initiative has collected more than 3,700 poverty reduction cases and identified 529 outstanding examples, spanning 78 countries and regions. These efforts have received widespread acclaim, contributing to the global dialogue on rural poverty reduction and sustainable development in developing countries.
