ABUJA, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- At the opening of a Xinhua photo exhibition on Thursday, visitors praised the news photos showcasing China's development over the years.
Themed "Lens of Xinhua: Images of the Century," the exhibition was organized by Xinhua's Abuja bureau. It featured iconic images that highlight key milestones in China's economic, social, and cultural evolution through fragments of national and collective memories.
For many attendees, including Chinese nationals, the exhibition provided a window into China's past while fostering mutual understanding between the people of China and Nigeria.
Ali Muhammad Ali, managing director and CEO of the News Agency of Nigeria, commended Xinhua for its "artistic effort to chronicle China's historic transformations over the decades."
"Most important is that this genre of reportage plays a vital role in journalism by telling stories and conveying emotions in ways that words alone cannot," Ali said, noting that images help readers remember stories better "as they associate the picture with the events or issues of development."
