XIAMEN, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- The 2024 Jimei x Arles International Photo Festival kicked off on Friday in Xiamen, a coastal city in east China's Fujian Province.
This year's festival includes 25 exhibitions featuring 2,000 works by artists from France, Spain, Germany, India, Japan, Canada, the United States and China.
The event's highlights are expected to be the five exhibitions of works selected from the Rencontres d'Arles, covering themes such as AI, architectural landscapes and environmental protection.
During the festival, a series of activities such as university lecture tours, portfolio reviews, artist talks, workshops, performances, study trips and the like will also be held.
This year, the festival will also connect with local art and culture through the "Parallel Exhibition" and "Isles Project." The initiative aims to integrate with local culture, exploring the connections between photography and the cultural heritage of Xiamen and its surrounding areas.
Launched in 2015, the Jimei x Arles International Photo Festival has recorded more than 500,000 visits over the past nine years. The festival will run until Jan. 12, 2025.
