On June 26, the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation(CSCLF) "Junior Cultural Ambassadors" event 2024 was held at the Soong Ching Ling Youth Science and Culture Exchange Center in China. Li Bin, vice chairperson of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairperson of the Foundation, attended the event and presented certificates to the recipients of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation "Junior Cultural Ambassadors" title. Jing Dunquan, vice chairperson of CSCLF, was present at the event and delivered a speech, with Secretary-General Zhang Jiming, officials from the International Exchange and Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and activity evaluation experts also in attendance.
Li Bin presented certificates to the young representatives, both Chinese and foreign, who received the title of "Junior Cultural Ambassadors" in 2023. Li engaged in conversations with them, encouraging them to fulfill their roles as cultural ambassadors and bridge builders, continuing their efforts to promote cultural exchanges among young people from various countries and deepen friendships.
Jing Dunquan delivered a speech on behalf of the organizers of the event. Five "Junior Cultural Ambassadors" from China, Australia (Alexander Camilleri), Belarus (Ivanitskaya Dominika), Peru (Nayeli García), and Sri Lanka (Perera Oshan) shared their experiences of learning and promoting Chinese culture, as well as their feelings about participating in the event. The theme for the upcoming year's event, "My Favorite Chinese Cuisine," was announced during the event.
Representatives from overseas collaborating institutions such as the Filipino Chinese School and the Chiang Mai Chong Hua Xin Sheng Hua Li School in Thailand attended the award ceremony. Several overseas Chinese cultural centers, cultural departments of foreign embassies and consulates, overseas collaborating institutions, as well as award-winning young representatives from both domestic and overseas participated in the event online.
The 2023 event, themed "The Chinese City I Aspire to Visit," received a total of 361 entries from 31 countries. Through the selection process by an expert evaluation committee and online voting, the event produced 30 "Junior Cultural Ambassadors" from 27 countries (including China) and 12 representatives based on online popularity.
