NEW YORK, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- About 400 students from the Beijing Jinfan Youth Art Troupe and the United Nations International School Band on Monday night joined hands to deliver a spectacular performance at the Lincoln Center in New York City and mark the Spring Festival which falls on Jan. 29 this year.

The performance took place at the Wu Tsai Theater in David Geffen Hall, attracting an audience of over 2,500, including local residents and members of the Chinese-American community.

The event was a perfect fusion of tradition and modernity, East and West, featuring a wide range of artistic forms including traditional Chinese music, symphonic orchestra, wind instruments, choral singing, dance, Peking opera, and martial arts.

Yolanda Keahey, a librarian from Jersey City, New Jersey, who attended the show, shared her thoughts: "The students' performances were amazing! I was especially impressed by the Jinfan Symphony Orchestra and the dance troupe, and the beautiful costumes added so much to the overall experience."

Keahey mentioned that she will be hosting a Chinese New Year celebration at the Jersey City Free Public Library on Jan. 25 and is looking forward to attending more similar performances to better understand Chinese culture in her community.

Fu Xianqing, the former chairman of the New York Sanjiang Charitable Association, who attended the event in traditional Chinese attire, underscored the importance of cultural and grassroots exchanges as a bridge between China and the United States. "Art has no borders. Every note and every dance step tonight tell a story of friendship and hope," he said.

Yu Yuehan, a student choral leader, said: "The performance was fantastic! Through the students' performances, I felt the vibrant energy of Chinese youth. I could also see the respect and admiration from both Chinese and foreign audiences toward Chinese culture. May China-U.S. friendship last forever, and may Chinese culture continue to thrive!"

Hu Xinyue, one of the participating students, shared her personal experience: "Backstage, I felt nervous and anxious, but the moment I stepped onto the stage, the dazzling lights gave me a sense of confidence and belief. As the music flowed, I immersed myself in it completely, and when the performance ended, I felt so proud and happy."
