Nigerian scholar calls for strengthening China-Africa relations through deeper economic, technological, cultural exchanges

In an recent interview, Prof. Efem Ubi, the Director of Studies at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, underscored the need to further strengthen China-Africa relations, particularly through deeper cultural, economic, and people-to-people exchanges. Reflecting on the letter sent by him alongside other African scholars to Chinese President Xi Jinping, Prof. Ubi shared how they’re encouraged to make continuous efforts to enhance ties across various sectors.

Prof. Ubi also applauded China’s contribution in addressing global challenges like climate change and poverty. He noted that China’s green energy efforts provide a model for the world. Furthermore, China’s poverty alleviation programs, including those under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), are pivotal in supporting Africa’s development by providing much-needed infrastructure and addressing systemic inequalities.

Prof. Ubi praised China’s rapid technological and infrastructural development, noting the impressive transformation witnessed during personal visits to the country. China’s advancement in building modern cities and integrating innovative technologies, such as robotic services in Shanghai, reflects a remarkable pace of growth.
