MANILA, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Philippine police have rescued a 14-year-old foreign student who was kidnapped on Feb. 20 after attending classes at a school in Metro Manila, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said Wednesday.
Local authorities said the victim was found abandoned in the middle of a busy street in Paranaque city on Tuesday night, and was immediately brought to a hospital for medical examination.
Police said the kidnappers killed the boy's driver and cut off his right little finger in a bid to force his family to pay a huge ransom.
Remulla said no ransom was paid.
Local media reported that the kidnapping marks the eighth case this year. Five cases have been fully resolved, while the three remaining cases are still under investigation.
