COLOMBO, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's National Water Supply and Drainage Board has urged the public to use water sparingly as the prevailing dry weather conditions have disrupted water supply in some districts of the country.
The board has requested people to minimize the use of water for activities such as washing vehicles and home gardening.
Water levels in reservoirs used to provide drinking water were rapidly declining, it said.
Over 12,000 people have been affected by 9 a.m. local time on Thursday, and relevant authorities were providing water with trucks, the disaster management center said. ■
