The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Beijing held a media briefing on Indonesia's latest developments on February 27. Over 60 journalists from leading Chinese media outlets attended the event. The goal was to introduce Indonesia’s recent progress and further strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and China.

In his speech, Indonesian Ambassador to China, H.E. Djauhari Oratmangun, expressed his gratitude to the Chinese media for their contributions to enhancing Indonesia-China relations. He stated, “The media plays a crucial role in strengthening the ties between our two countries. We greatly appreciate the media’s cooperation and support in fostering a deeper understanding of Indonesia in China.”

During the briefing, Oratmangun discussed Indonesia’s latest developments under the leadership of newly elected President Prabowo. He remarked, “President Prabowo is dedicated to guiding Indonesia toward the realization of the ‘Golden Indonesia 2045’ vision. He has also emphasized the importance of strengthening national security through the fields of food, energy, digital technology, and defense.”

Forecasts predict Indonesia’s economic growth will reach 5.1% in 2025, showcasing its resilience amid global economic uncertainty. Oratmangun highlighted Indonesia’s stable fiscal policies and robust domestic consumption, alongside increased investments in key economic sectors.

Following the Ambassador’s remarks, other representatives from the Embassy, including the Trade Attaché Budi Hansyah, First Secretary for Economic Affairs Ari Handayani, Immigration Attaché Herawan Sukoaji, and Dewi Irianingsih, provided further insights into bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and visas. In trade, China remained Indonesia’s largest trading partner in 2024, with a bilateral trade volume nearing $147.8 billion, an increase of over 6%. In terms of investment, China’s actual investment in Indonesia reached $8.1 billion in 2024, growing by 9.4%, while Hong Kong's investment amounted to $8.2 billion. In tourism, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Indonesia in 2024 reached 1.1 million. In education and culture, several Chinese universities have established Indonesian cultural centers. The Indonesian Embassy also encouraged Chinese partners to take full advantage of the Golden Visa program launched last year, which facilitates long-term residence and investment in Indonesia for foreign investors.

Since this year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and China, Oratmangun invites Chinese media to help amplify the celebration’s momentum to further strengthen bilateral cooperation. He expressed hope that the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries would continue to flourish and benefit both peoples.
