Francis Gurry, Vice Chairman of the World Internet Conference and former Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), has emphasized the urgent need for international cooperation to address the global challenges emerging from the internet age. While praising the internet’s benefits—such as communication, cultural exchange, and scientific progress—he warned of rising threats including AI’s use of copyrighted content, cyber intrusions, and the erosion of sustainable business models for creators.
The expert identified three key areas requiring global solutions: AI data ingestion, cyber intrusion, and digital adaptation. He also highlighted China’s pivotal role in fostering international dialogue, for being a major AI power capable of leading global efforts through platforms like the World Internet Conference.
