At the 5th China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) in Hainan, Adam Knight, co-founder of YASO—the UK representative for cosmetic and clean-care brands Cowshed, Archieve, Faith in Nature, and Pixie—outlined the strategic advantages the event offers European businesses venturing into China’s consumer market.
Knight emphasized the significance of Hainan’s favorable policies for foreign investment. He noted that the region’s duty-free status, combined with the forthcoming Hainan Free Trade Port, presents substantial opportunities. According to Knight, such measures offer “very exciting opportunities for businesses to enter the Chinese market in a safe and secure way.”
He further explained that participating in CICPE not only demonstrates a firm commitment to the Chinese market but also enables rapid, multifaceted networking. Knight remarked, “doing these expos really gives us an opportunity to showcase our products to a wide range of distributors and potential partners at the same time, as well as just showing our commitment to the Chinese market.”
Commenting on the current international trade environment, Knight indicated that CICPE’s timing is particularly pertinent. He observed that many companies, especially those from the United States, find the tariff situation challenging and unnecessary, whereas YASO’s focus on European brands positions it favorably. He noted that this situation opens up additional opportunities for cross-border e-commerce and fosters closer commercial ties between China, Europe, and the UK—an essential development as global trade becomes increasingly complex.
