Visionary Global Civilization Initiative conducive to addressing challenges: Lesotho official

BEIJING, July 12 (Guangming Online) -- The visionary Global Civilization Initiative is timely and highly relevant to addressing challenges amid today's geopolitical environment, a senior official from Lesotho said Friday at the Parallel Forum I of the Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting in Beijing.

Lekhela Thabang Polycarp, Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lesotho, told Guangming Online in an exclusive interview that the current global geopolitical situation dictates that people rethink the way that they approach international relations.

The GCI is very important for small countries like Lesotho, because "civilization dialogue ensures that no one is left behind" and "every voice is heard" whatever the countries' size and economic development level are, he said.

The GCI ensures that countries like Lesotho, which have shared and still have a lot to share with the world, have the platform to be able to share its wisdom, he added.

"Wisdom does not nest in one place, wisdom rests in all the places, and it's only when we harmonize that collective wisdom that we'll be able to address and to conquer the challenges that are faced by the world," he said.

Polycarp also noted that cultural understanding is the one that will bring people together to surmount these daunting challenges that they are faced with in the current environment.

Themed "Safeguarding Diversity of Human Civilizations for World Peace and Development," the Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting has attracted over 600 guests from 140 countries and regions.
