Malaysia's population estimated to reach 34.2 mln in 2025

　　KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's total population in 2025 was estimated at 34.2 million, compared to 34.1 million in 2024, official data showed Thursday.

　　The citizen population increased from 30.7 million in 2024 to 30.9 million in 2025, the Department of Statistics Malaysia said in a statement.

　　The composition of the population aged 15-64 years increased to 70.4 percent in 2025 from 70.2 percent in 2024, while the ratio of the population aged 65 years and over increased to 8 percent from 7.6 percent.

　　Meanwhile, the composition of population aged 0-14 years in 2025 decreased to 21.6 percent from 22.2 percent in 2024.

　　The median age of Malaysia's population reached 31.3 years in 2025, up from 30.9 years in the previous year. ■
