On January 11, 1943, China and the United States, as well as China and the United Kingdom, respectively, signed new treaties. Under these treaties, the U.S. and the U.K. returned leased territories in China and abolished a series of special privileges in China.
In October, the Chinese Expeditionary Force in India launched a counteroffensive in northern Burma.
From November 22 to 26, the leaders of China, the United States, and the United Kingdom held a conference in Cairo, Egypt, and afterward issued the Cairo Declaration.
