URUMQI, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- An exhibition on intangible cultural heritage opened on Friday in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, highlighting achievements in the preservation, inheritance and collaboration in the field.

The exhibition -- co-organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Xinjiang regional government -- is slated to run through August 19.

It features 435 intangible cultural heritage items and 383 inheritors from Xinjiang and 25 other provincial-level regions, including 19 that offer pairing assistance to Xinjiang.

The Yotkan cultural scenic spot in Hotan Prefecture is the main venue. Secondary venues across Hotan are also hosting exhibitions and offering interactive cultural heritage experiences.

China has been implementing the "pairing assistance" programs in Xinjiang since 1997, channeling financial, technical and human resource support in various fields to Xinjiang from other regions of China.
