PHNOM PENH, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia earned 328.3 million U.S. dollars in revenue from exports of natural rubber latex in the first eight months of 2025, which was equal to the same amount it made over the same period last year, said an official report on Thursday.
The report, released by the General Directorate of Rubber, showed that the kingdom exported 183,910 tons of the commodity during the January-August period this year, down 12 percent from 209,733 tons over the same period last year.
However, the domestic consumption of rubber latex saw a significant rise of 89 percent to 75,523 tons in the first eight months, generating a gross revenue from local sales of nearly 137 million dollars, the report said.
"A ton of rubber latex averagely costs 1,786 U.S. dollars during the first eight months of 2025, about 220 dollars higher than that of the same period in 2024," Khun Kakada, deputy director general of the General Directorate of Rubber, said in the report.
The Southeast Asian nation exports the commodity mainly to Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore and China. ■
