MOGADISHU, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Somali government on Thursday strongly condemned the Israeli attack in Doha, Qatar, calling it an act of aggression that violates international law.

In a statement issued after a Council of Ministers meeting in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, the Cabinet reaffirmed Somalia's solidarity with Qatar while denouncing the attack, which it said violates all international laws and norms.

The Council of Ministers strongly condemned the recent blatant and aggressive Israeli attack in Doha, the Cabinet said during a weekly cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.

The Cabinet emphasized the importance of upholding sovereignty and territorial integrity among nations, urging the international community to take a firm stance against such acts of aggression.

Israel carried out an unprecedented airstrike in Doha on Tuesday, targeting a building used by senior Hamas officials in what Israeli authorities described as an assassination attempt on the group's leaders.

Hamas said Tuesday evening that the strike occurred while its delegation was discussing a new cease-fire proposal presented by the United States. According to the group, five of its members and a Qatari security officer were killed during the strike, while key members of the negotiating team survived. ■
