BEIJING, Oct. 21 (Guangming Online) -- Thirty-five female officials from Laos participating in the “Seminar on Gender Equality and Socioeconomic Development in Laos”, hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and organized by China Women’s University, visited the “Yumeng Zhaoyang - Child-friendly Space for Children's Growth” in the Wangjing Subdistrict of Chaoyang District, Beijing. The delegation exchanged experiences on the construction and operation of child-friendly spaces and took part in immersive traditional Chinese cultural activities.

During the visit, Li Qiuxue, head of Yumeng Zhaoyang, gave the guests a detailed overview of the space's functional layout and diverse activity system. From its child-centered design to its specialized programs for quality enhancement and parent-child interaction, the visit offered a comprehensive demonstration of the site's operational model, facilitating a shared exploration of child-friendly development pathways with the Lao delegation.

As a key pilot project for child-friendly initiatives in Wangjing Subdistrict, Yumeng Zhaoyang spans approximately 1,000 square meters, featuring a well-structured and purpose-driven layout. The venue includes core functional areas such as a library, creative workshops, children's activity zones, and art exhibition spaces. It is also equipped with supportive facilities including a mother-and-child care room, a “Caring Mother” shared lounge, and dedicated areas for younger children. Together, these facilities meet the developmental needs of children of different ages, making the space an integrated service hub that combines education, socialization, creativity, interaction, and learning.

Following the exchange session, the Lao participants engaged in hands-on experiences of traditional Chinese crafts such as lacquer fan painting, sugar painting, and handmade beading. The graceful lacquered fans adorned with calligraphy, the crystal-clear and sweet sugar paintings, and the auspicious vermilion bead bracelets vividly showcased the beauty of Chinese traditional culture, creating a warm and engaging atmosphere.

After the visit, Sikhayphet Sengmany, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union, spoke highly of the child-friendly space. She noted that it vividly reflects China’s remarkable achievements in child development and the government's strong commitment to children's well-being. She emphasized that the valuable experience gained from this visit would be adapted to Laos's local conditions for future implementation.
