Special campaign launched to prevent power grid fire hazards in Shangqiu, C China's Henan Province

As November marks China's National Fire Safety Month, Shangqiu City in Henan Province has launched a comprehensive campaign to address the root causes of fire risks. State Grid Shangqiu Power Supply Company is focusing on key areas and critical components, carrying out thorough inspections and remediation of fire hazards across the power grid. The initiative aims to prevent and reduce fire incidents, ensuring the safe and stable operation of the power system and protecting public safety and property.

State Grid Minquan County Power Supply Company invited local firefighters to conduct a specialized fire safety briefing for employees. During the session, the firefighters explained key concepts related to fire and electrical safety, taking into account the specific characteristics of power system operations. They elaborated on common fire risks found in daily life and workplaces, and analyzed the causes and lessons learned from recent fire accidents at industrial facilities nationwide. Through vivid examples, employees gained a clear understanding of the importance of fire safety.

Following the briefing, an evacuation drill and a hands-on fire extinguisher training session were held under the guidance of the firefighters. When the simulated fire alarm sounded, participants covered their mouths and noses with wet towels, bent down to avoid smoke, and quickly evacuated via designated routes to a safe assembly area. After the drill, the firefighters demonstrated how to operate a portable dry powder extinguisher and guided employees through practice, ensuring everyone mastered basic emergency response skills.

Throughout National Fire Safety Month, State Grid Minquan County Power Supply Company has also been conducting fire hazard inspections in high-rise buildings, residential communities, electric vehicle charging stations, and bicycle sheds. Identified issues are promptly addressed to eliminate risks. In addition, the company has been organizing fire safety awareness activities, reaching out to factories, communities, schools, villages, and households with combined messages on electrical and fire safety.
