TOKYO, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Japan's industrial output rose 1.4 percent in October from the previous month, driven by robust production of cars, government data showed Friday.
The increase followed an upwardly revised 2.6 percent growth in September, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) said, with a 6.6 percent rise in the motor vehicles sector driving the overall gain.
Out of 15 surveyed industries, nine other sectors recorded growth, including electrical machinery and information and communication electronics equipment, while five sectors, including electronic parts and devices, declined, according to the ministry.
Manufacturers remain concerned about the outlook due to the fluctuating tariff policies of the United States as well as weakness in domestic demand due to inflation, among other factors, a ministry official said.
The METI maintained its basic assessment of industrial production from the month before, saying it "fluctuates indecisively." ■
