Joint power‑railway inspection conducted to strengthen safety measures in Zhumadian, C China's Henan Province

Recently, the local power supply company and the railway department conducted a joint inspection along railway corridors in Zhumadian, central China's Henan Province. They performed comprehensive and detailed checks of power lines that cross railway sections, working together to ensure the “dual safety” of both the grid and railway operations.

To ensure effectiveness, the two parties coordinated in advance, identified existing weaknesses in equipment maintenance, and drafted a detailed inspection plan tailored to on‑ground conditions. Leveraging their respective expertise, they carried out targeted examinations, focusing on the condition of tower foundations, conductor sag, bolt fittings, and other hardware in transmission sections spanning the railway. They also jointly surveyed risks such as vegetation encroachment and foreign objects along the railway right‑of‑way.

For any issues spotted during the inspection, staff from both sides conducted on‑site analysis and evaluation, formulated specific corrective measures, and established coordinated emergency plans, thereby improving the efficiency of handling cross‑sector challenges.

On site, the joint team adopted an integrated “professional inspection + inter‑agency coordination + drone support” model. Supported by the power company’s online transmission monitoring center and UAV teams, they worked in a coordinated and focused manner. This approach enabled an intelligent upgrade of inspection operations, promoting more professional, precise, and efficient maintenance management of transmission equipment.

To date, 25 transmission line segments crossing railways have been inspected, achieving “one inspection, dual coverage, and data sharing.” The effort provides a solid safety foundation for smooth railway transportation and reliable power supply.
