Posters | China's high-speed rail mileage exceeds 50,000 km, consolidating world's largest HSR network

A "Fuxing" bullet train departed Friday morning from Yan'an, a sacred revolutionary heartland in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, for the provincial capital Xi'an, inaugurating the new route. China has expanded its total operational mileage beyond 50,000 kilometers with the launch of the new high-speed line.

Since launching its high-speed rail service in 2008, China has built the world's largest high-speed railway network, accounting for over 70 percent of the world's total.

Up to 10,000 bullet trains carry as many as 16 million passengers every day, with bullet trains having transported over 22.9 billion passengers by the end of 2024.

Today, high-speed rail services are accessible in 97 percent of Chinese cities with populations exceeding 500,000.
