They enjoy the scenic karst landscape and rapeseed blossoms in spring. On the same day, Yangshuo hosted the “Yulong River Rapeseed Flower Season Walk,” the 2026 Yangshuo University Student Ecological Hiking Festival, which organized hundreds of university students studying in Guilin to hike a 9-km route from Wanjing Wharf to Xiatang Wharf, immersing themselves in the spring scenery along the river. In recent years, Yangshuo has developed the Yulong River corridor into a comprehensive tourism destination integrating hiking, cultural experiences and ecological sightseeing through an innovative “sports + tourism + culture” model, frequently hosting group hiking events and competitions to enhance the river’s reputation as a hiking destination.
