The Series of Major Global Initiatives: Global Development Initiative

On September 21, 2021, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the Global Development Initiative at the general debate of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, aiming to advance the broadest common interests of all humanity. Centered on accelerating the implementation of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the initiative upholds a people-centered approach, promotes united, equal, balanced and inclusive global development partnerships, and calls for results-oriented actions to foster stronger, greener and healthier development while building a global community of development. Highly aligned with the UN’s 2030 Agenda, it resonates particularly with the aspirations of developing countries and represents China’s firm commitment to revitalizing global cooperation and addressing shared development challenges.
