BEIJING, April 10 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson on Friday urged Japan to abide by the four political documents between China and Japan and its own commitments, reflect on and correct its wrongdoings, and take concrete actions to uphold the political foundation of bilateral relations.
According to reports, the Japanese government has downgraded its description of the bilateral relations from the previous "one of the most important bilateral relations" to "an important neighboring country" in the newly released Diplomatic Bluebook.
Addressing a daily press briefing, spokesperson Mao Ning pointed out that the root cause of the current situation facing China-Japan relations is Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's erroneous remarks on Taiwan, which constitute a breach of faith, undermine the political foundation of China-Japan relations, and challenge the post-war international order.
