3 killed in Israeli strike on Beirut's southern suburbs

BEIRUT, May 28 (Xinhua) -- An Israeli airstrike on the Choueifat area in Beirut's southern suburbs killed three people, including a woman, her infant daughter, and a Syrian child, and wounded 15 others on Thursday, Lebanon's Health Ministry said.

In a statement, the ministry's emergency operations center said the wounded included three children and five women.

Earlier in the day, an Israeli strike targeted a residential building in Choueifat, an area close to Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport.

The attack is the first of its kind on Beirut's southern suburbs in weeks, as Israel recently ramped up its military operations in the country.
