BEIJING, July 1(Guangming Online)–The closing ceremony for the 2026 Delegation of Young Leaders from Bangladesh to China was held in Beijing on June 30. The event marked the end of a 10-day exchange program across Kunming in southwest China's Yunnan Province, Shanghai and Beijing.
Jointly organized by the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies (ACCWS), the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), and the Centre for China Studies (SIIS-DU), the program brought together 22 young representatives from the Bangladeshi government, universities, think tanks, and media organizations.
At the event, Li Yafang, deputy editor-in-chief of China International Communications Group (CICG) and president of ACCWS, said the visit of the Bangladeshi youth leaders delegation comes at an opportune time and has attracted widespread attention. She noted that the leaders of China and Bangladesh have jointly announced the building of a China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era. The announcement has charted a new blueprint for taking bilateral relations to a higher level and opened up broader opportunities for youth exchanges between the two countries.

Li Kaisheng, Vice President of SIIS, said that as fellow developing countries, China and Bangladesh are both at a crucial stage of national development and rejuvenation. He noted that the vivid practice and successful experience of Chinese modernization offer valuable references for other developing countries exploring their own modernization paths. As long-standing friendly neighbors, China and Bangladesh should continue to support each other and pursue mutually beneficial cooperation.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Yu Haowen, a young faculty member at the University of Dhaka, said that as representatives of Bangladesh's younger generation, the delegates would continue to serve as ambassadors of friendship after returning home by sharing authentic, multidimensional, and comprehensive stories about China with the Bangladeshi public.

During their stay in China, the delegates took part in seminars, field visits, and cultural exchange activities. The program not only deepened their understanding of China but also inspired them to further explore and learn from the country's modernization experience.
Muhammad Mazedul Haque, a Research Officer at the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies, spoke highly of China's effective democratic system. "It has supported remarkable progress in technological innovation and infrastructure development while offering valuable experience for countries including Bangladesh," Haque said.
“We have learned a lot through this program, but what truly inspired me is how China has developed without harming nature or the environment. It has demonstrated that modern development can coexist with environmental preservation,” Foqoruddin Al Kabir, Senior Research Associate at the Centre for Policy Dialogue in Bangladesh, told Guangming Online.
Kabir noted that Bangladesh could draw on China's experience in eco-friendly urban planning and expand bilateral cooperation with China on renewable energy and green technologies. Both countries honor their climate pledges under the Paris Agreement, laying the groundwork for a new partnership centered on sustainable green growth.
