On June 30, 45 “Junior Cultural Ambassadors” of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, representing 25 countries, made dumplings and zongzi in Beijing, experiencing China’s traditional festive food culture firsthand. Working side by side, the young people from different cultural backgrounds and speaking different mother tongues rolled dough and prepared fillings amid constant laughter. Participants from countries including the Philippines, Russia, Greece, and Malaysia said this hands-on experience of making food and building friendships would be a lasting memory. Food knows no borders, and neither do young hearts.
