Beyond the Badaling Great Wall lies the Guyaju Cave Dwellings Area, one of Yanqing's most remarkable historical sites.
Located about 20 km northwest of Badaling, Guyaju is China's largest ancient cliff dwelling complex. Carved directly into granite cliffs, its 137 stone chambers have stood for centuries. Yet who built them—and why—remains one of the site's greatest mysteries, as no historical records have revealed their origins.
Today, visitors can explore the ancient dwellings, admire the dramatic mountain landscape, and join interactive cultural and educational activities that bring the site's history and legends to life.
