New Zealand detects measles case with no known source

　　WELLINGTON, July 30 (Xinhua) -- A new measles case had been detected in New Zealand's Palmerston North with no known source of infection, raising concerns that there could be further unidentified cases in the community, health authorities said on Thursday.

　　Health New Zealand said in a statement the infected person had no connection to international travel, and may have been exposed to measles either in Palmerston North or in the capital Wellington between July 4 and July 18.

　　The Palmerston North resident spent time in Wellington during the busy Matariki holiday weekend when large public events, concerts and a large international sports event took place, the statement said.

　　Public health medicine specialist Sharon Sime said authorities were concerned there could be additional undetected cases and urged people who were in Wellington during the weekend of July 11-12 to watch for symptoms including fever, cough, runny nose or red eyes, followed by a rash that typically starts on the face. ■
