BEIJING — At the Guangdong Jiangmen Chinese White Dolphin Provincial Nature Reserve, conservation workers are dedicated to protecting Chinese white dolphins and fostering coexistence between the species and local communities.
From establishing protected areas to conducting public education, training local fishermen and carrying out regular monitoring, the reserve is exploring ways to better safeguard the dolphins while helping local communities understand and care for these animals.
Supported by the FAO-GEF Demonstration of Estuarine Biodiversity Conservation, Restoration and Protected Area Networking in China, these efforts are exploring new approaches to estuarine biodiversity conservation and protected area networking.
In this episode, Feng Kangkang, a technician at the Guangdong Jiangmen Chinese White Dolphin Provincial Nature Reserve Administration, shares his experience in Chinese white dolphin conservation and the efforts being made to build greater awareness of the species among local communities.
