IPU Secretary General Anda Filip calls for parliamentary dimension to global AI governance

BEIJING – At the 2026 Interregional Seminar on the Achievement of the SDGs for Parliaments of Developing Countries, Anda Filip, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), called for integrating a parliamentary dimension into global AI governance. She stressed that the IPU could play a key role in mobilizing regional and global agreements on AI, citing this as an example of how the IPU translates global ideas and commitments into national realities and helps develop a parliamentary dimension to the work of the United Nations.
