Art, handicrafts exhibition opens in Afghanistan's Herat

　　KABUL, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- A five-day exhibition showcasing art and traditional handicrafts opened in western Afghanistan's Herat province on Sunday, the official Bakhtar News Agency reported.

　　The exhibition features a diverse range of artworks and handcrafted products, including paintings, miniature works, hand-carved pieces and ceramics, while also providing a platform to encourage and support artisans, particularly women, according to the report.

　　The fair has 120 booths, 70 of which are dedicated to women, offering them an opportunity to display their work, reach potential customers and generate income from their artistic skills.

　　Hundreds of women in Herat are reportedly engaged in various artistic and handicraft activities, including painting, drawing, miniature painting, calligraphy, engraving and other traditional crafts, and many are earning livelihoods through their work. ■
