Birdwatching season is here at Wild Duck Lake National Wetland Park!

As autumn sets in, migratory birds are making their annual journey south, stopping at the wetlands in Beijing's Yanqing District to rest and feed. Ducks and geese have already begun arriving, with grey cranes and other migratory birds expected from late October. The migration season is set to peak in mid-November.

Recommended route:

Enter through the main gate and follow the lakeside wooden boardwalk through golden reed beds. Stop by the birdwatching tower and crane observation platform, climb the lake-view tower for panoramic wetland views, and finish at the waterside platform to catch the sunset. The 5-km walk takes around 2–3 hours.

Birdwatching tips:

- Bring binoculars for a closer look at the birds without disturbing them.

- Keep your distance, stay quiet, and never feed the birds.

- Pack a windproof jacket, as temperatures can drop around the lake.
